Solution

Open command window by Start > Run then type cmd and hit enter

Locate the directory in command prompt using cd command C:\[Windows Directory]\Microsoft.Net\Framework\[Version]

Note: You must replace [Windows Directory] in this path with the correct directory for your system and replace [Version] with the version of the .NET Frame work installed on your system.

Execute aspnet_regiis -i to re-register the asp.net ...

Issue in Authentication prevents Debugging

Error while trying to run project : Unable to start debugging on the web server. Would you like to disable future attempts to debug ASP.NET pages for this project?

Solution

Use iisreset to restart the IIS(Internet Information Server)

IIS application should be configured to use integrated authentication. Then only it will be able to access the debugger to start debugging. By default, the anonymous account will not have enough rights to access the debugger to start debugging

Issue with Debugger Users configuration

Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging on the web server. Access is denied. Check the DCOM configuration settings for the machine debug manager. Would you like to disable future attempts to debug ASP.NET pages for this project?

Solution

Go to Windows Start menu > Programs>Administrative Tools then Computer Management.

·         In the left pane, expand the Computer Management, System Tools, and Local Users and Groups.
·         Select Groups, and then select properties of Debugger Users.
·         Click add in Debugger Users Properties.
·         In the Select Users or Groups dialog box, select respective user, and then click OK.

Issue with invalid Web.Config

You may get the following error while trying to debug.

Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging on the web server. Server side-error occurred on sending debug HTTP request.

Make sure the server is operating correctly. Verify there are no syntax errors in web.config by doing a Debug.Start Without Debugging. You may also want to refer to the ASP.NET and ATL Server debugging topic in the online documentation. Would you like to disable future attempts to debug ASP.NET pages for this project?

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, make sure that all of the Extensible Markup Language (XML) in the Web.config file is valid and well formed. 
Please remember that everything in Web.config is case-sensitive.

Issue with 'Debug set to false'

You may recieve the following while debugging.

For ASP.NET projects, verify that you have a valid project file called 'Web.config' for the URL specified and 'debug' is set to 'true' in that file.
For ATL Server projects, verify that the 'DEBUG' verb is associated with your ISAPI extension.

IE Security Issue preventing Debugging

Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging on the web server.

You may recieve the following message when trying to debug the project
"You do not have permission to debug the application. The URL for this project is in the Internet zone. Click Help for more information."

Solution

·         In the Internet Explorer, in Menu Tools>, select Internet Options.

·         Click tab Security.

·         Click on Internet

·         Click on Custom Level in the bottom.

·         Scroll down to find the User Authentication section.

·         Select Automatic logon with current username and password.

Debug issue related to Asp.Net or ATL Server

Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging on the web server. Could not start ASP.NET or ATL Server debugging.

Verify that ASP.NET or ATL Server is correctly installed on the server.

Solution

1.       open the [application Name].vbproj.webinfo file for editing the configuration file.

The [application Name].vbproj.webinfo file is located in the application folder for your application.

2.      Locate the following line.<Web URLPath = "http://localhost/[application Name]/[application Name].vbproj" />

Local host is your host name

Configure personalization

Asp.net uses Ms Sql Server 2005 express by default for storing personalization information.

In Order to register the SQL server(which holds the personalization information ) to a different server please use the following

aspnet_regsql.exe -S [MICROSOFT SQL SERVER] -U [USERNAME] -P [PASSWORD] -A all -d [DATABASE NAME]

After if you are getting some errors like the configuration is invalid please change your web.config file and run again.

Deploying Excel Library for ASP.Net web applications

Excel Library is useful in Asp.net for various operations, like import data from Excel Spreadsheet, and export data into excel spreadsheet.

Go To Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Component Services

Under Console Root -> Component Services -> Computers -> My Computer -> DCOM Config

Go to 'Microsoft Excel Application' and choose Properties

Select 'Security' tab

Go to Customize 'Launch and Activation Permissions'
